When i came back it appeared that it was my modem fail, not router itself (i have DSL modem with RJ45 out, and i use PPPoE to connect with internet). I was sure it was router problem, so i bought new one (TL-WR1043ND from TP-Link). Even router had power cable turned out, it stopped to work after that little storm. There was some terrible thunder at my region, and many lightnings. Never had any problems, really, it just worked like it should, even with wifi signal adjusted, cpu clock and SSH access from world enabled. Oh, i used some things like DMZ, VLANS, even OpenVPN for some time. Was that a default configuration or did you used some "advanced" features? It was rock solid, stable for me, i almost forgot how my router looks, when i put DD-WRT on it. Linksys WRT54GL was the router i never had any problems with DD-WRT. Router could actualy have a DD-WRT certified logo on them Think about it, dd-wrt could actualy force producent to make propper router with no crappy components. differently i think.Īgain, I only write this because i want dd-wrt to succeede. There is a need for alternative firmware for routers apparently.but it needs to be done. It could be so great if dd-wrt could get things stright. Maybe dd-wrt should concentrate on one router and only enable functionality that actualy works.

Ok, so there hasnt been a bug free build for any router. The main emphasis lies on providing the easiest possible handling while at the same time supporting a great number of functionalities within the framework of the respective hardware platform used. Is there anybody managing DD-WRT, and not just programming ?ĭD-WRT is a Linux based alternative OpenSource firmware suitable for a great variety of WLAN routers and embedded systems.

Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!Īnd why not try make it bug free, or almost bug free.Īnd try not take it as an attack on DD-WRT, im only puzzled why DD-WRT never seems to be done with routers that has been out for a long time. If you ever find one then stay with it because dd-wrt is an experimental firmware and is going trough continuous changes so there will always be bugs in it.

For example, taking a look in /etc/init.Has there ever been a bug free stock firmware? ) do not seem to have anything useful (at least in the build of DD-WRT that I have installed). The usual Linux locations for startup scripts and the like, (e.g., /etc/init.d, /etc/rc. I've seen that there may be different builds of DD-WRT that give something like iptables-save, but I'm not at the point where I'm ready or willing to flash the router again. If there was something like /etc/sysconfig/iptables, I wouldn't care about having iptables-save. I don't necessarily want the command itself, just output that it generates. I understand that this build does not have an iptables-save command. so that I can incorporate the appropriate rules into my custom script. Where would I find these on a DD-WRT filesystem? I can do iptables -L -vn -line-numbersĪnd see them output, but what I'm looking for is more of what the iptables-save command might output. On a full-blown Linux system, the iptables rules would be stored somewhere like /etc/sysconfig/iptables. I am aware of the firewall script tab in the browser interface for entering custom firewall rules, but I can't find someplace to see the output. I'd like to be able to customize the iptables rules, but before I do that, I'd like to see the output of the built-in rules that get configured when manipulating the browser/GUI interface settings. According to my ssh login, I'm running: DD-WRT v24-sp2 mega (c) 2010 NewMedia-NET GmbH

I have an ASUS RT-N16 router that I've flashed with the open-source DD-WRT firmware.
